Plans and reality

The thing is, i still haven’t started learning for my exams, though they are nearing scary. I’ll have to start with the grammar questions, then come math… Math is the closest, ninth of june. The others are the end of june, but i just borrowed the grammar ones, that’s why it has priority. Tomorrow in the morning and in the early afternoon i’ll be working on my current job, a website for a textile merchant, which will be completed in the matter of days, then come the registration process, which takes a while in hungary—at least it took a while when i first registered valerauko.net at a local registrar. After that i’ll be reading, i still have about a hundred pages from the book i’m into nowadays, i want to finish it. Later i plan to start copying the grammar questions (that’d be enough for a first turn of learning), then complete the new version of the past vDesign, which is everything but up to date and good-looking. It was quite a while since i did that one, and it was only in a few days that i realised that the top banner at Athina’s blog is made using the same pattern. The very same. I’m proud (joking). By the way, the new version will be very trendy web2.0 style, but i tried to make it a bit original. And from now on, i’ll be paying close attention to my projects, so they’ll look good on my reference page. Yeah. Business is getting more speed.

King’s X

King’s X is a great band, i tell you here and now. That four minute guitar solo in Sooner or later is magic. And i just read on Wikipedia, that their new album, XZ is out now. I’d even buy it…

Nostalgia

Now i once again know how good (?) it feels to swear with really beautiful, almost baroque complex epic sentences, annoyed out of my skin by the freaking (naturally at first i wanted to write something more drastic) stupidities (once again) of Internet Explorer. I’m not sure if i should put its name here… i don’t want any search engine to index that thing in association with my blog. Opera, FireFox, both can render everything correctly, as one would expect, but (also as one would expect) the “superior product” of Microsoft does not. At all. And usual simple fixes (like switching from float to position:relative) does not work. I hate it.

Decide: free speech or not?

The States leaders should finally decide if they want free speech or not. On the same day, i read contradicting articles on Ars Technica: in one of them the senators try to force the huge States-based multinational internet companies, such as Google, Yahoo and Cisco to work against the Great (Fire)wall of China—the practice of the chinese communist system to censor the internet and search results. On the other hand, only by a few minutes difference, there’s an other article, about how senators try to force Google to remove islamist videos from YouTube. They should really decide then: let there be free speech or not? If they want to force the communists to let everyone express their views there (which would, i guess, fairly soon lead to the collapse of that system in its current form), then why should Google remove islamist videos? I don’t mean those videos displaying violence or any such offending material—the only problem is that they are by islamist groups.

Spheric

I’ll cut it short (again): Spheric Universe Experience (and its kin) is just simply fantastic. Or rather fantaspheric.

Hooks

Remember the great Iron Maiden song Hooks in you (from their No prayer for the dying album)? Though it’s indeed a significant piece of metal history in itself, i’m not going to write about it now (there’s a lot behind those links anyway). If not that, then what kind of hooks? I just realised today that using the same method for plugins as WordPress, hooks (or event triggers) to be exact, is not that much of a bad idea. It’s the fastest way i think. Even if i’m doing OOP, and they’re just partly that. I’ll have the core objects (database, posts, output, and one with everything else such as string modifiers, date and time, and basic authentication — and most importantly plugin management — since it’s so “huge”, i’m thinking about splitting it up or putting most of its stuff into modules or plugins) and the dynamically loaded plugin library. Here and there in the code, there’ll be trigger points, where i trigger a registered event (if it’s unregistered, a notice level error will occur), the plugin handler checks which plugins’ which functions are registered for that event, and executes them. It gave me a minute’s trouble to figure out how to pass variables, because they need to be passed by reference. But there are cases, when no parameter’s required, and then it’d raise an error, because parameters passed by reference cannot be left empty. I think. ‘Tis so fun, i finally get it on the way. This part i really enjoy.

Silver

I wonder why that particular shade of gray is named after the metal commonly named silver… Now i’m sitting behind my desk, typing this post, and at the same time gazing out of my window (luck i can touch type), at the—well, silver-coloured sky. That’s why it’s interesting: i’m very sure that humankind saw this colour of the clouds, the clouds i could only define as sharp-looking, than the colour of one of my favourite metals (not meaning music here, though metal is indeed my favourite on that field too). Oh, and if you didn’t know yet, i also love spring (and summer) (rain)storms.

Business

Business is starting up. One after another people ask for websites, which will surely bring me the amount needed for the summer. Maybe i’ll even have some left for the university times. Though not the way i planned, this is just great news. I won’t go bankrupt soon.

Tear… it apart

After a long bikeride i’m really tired. It’s not a problem (this time), because this is only a bodily exhaustion, up until now i could really enjoy mental activities such as reading, writing, chatting and such. Just as if i had a beer sometime in the afternoon, and i could still feel that nice relaxation. But it’s not so. Beer comes tomorrow.

I’ll be having fun with stuff like CSS and hexameter now.

v2

So boring. So limited. I feel like Szayel Apollo Granz when the poison started to take effect: my body can’t keep up with me. Nor can anything nearby. I know there are people out there who could—but that’s too far away to live like that. I’m bound.

Okay, this doesn’t make any sense. I’m off reading. Way too tired to write.
