Na ez is egy fura menet volt. Kedden este össze-vissza nézelődtem a Google Mapsen, és valahogy kis szülőföldem környékén kötöttem ki. Ekkor ugrott be, hogy dehát a barátaimmal egyszer elbicikliztünk Tarjánból a Gyarmati Nyírjesbe bulizni, aztán visszafelé vonattal jöttünk. A részletek már nincsenek meg, ellenben az akkori blogbejegyzésem (már) megvan. De ez persze nem volt ilyen egyszerű.

Anno 2014 elején elszállt a saját készítésű blogmotorom, ami 2007 óta hajtotta a kicsikét. Adatbázis backupom persze van, de a feltöltött képek többsége már jó eséllyel soha nem kerül elő (esetleg, ha a Wayback Machine megőrizte) – nem (csak) saját hibából: többször a szolgáltató dobta ki a fájlokat az ablakon. Azóta apránként (amikor épp eszembe jutott) töltögettem vissza a régi bejegyzéseket a WordPressbe, de nem csak nagyon sok (2000+) van belőlük, de a formátum is természetesen saját gyártás. Ez azt jelenti, hogy a saját formázó-kódomat először át kell alakítani HTML-be, és onnan lehet a WP-be másolni. Ez kézzel elég fárasztó, és nekem nem volt erőm mindent szépen átrakni, ahogy Mefi tette (pedig nekem jóval kevesebb az anyag, ráadásul én már csináltam egyszer–kétszer).

Move, move

I’m moving hosts. My site valerauko.net has been hosted at 27hosting.com pretty much from the beginning (if i remember correctly there was a few months’ time when i was still at a hungarian host), during which once they erased all my data and presented me with almost half a year of downtime (as apparent from the gap in the blog archives), and to top it off recently there has been quite a lot of downtime. I wouldn’t even mind if it was like five minutes or so every time, but often it lasts for hours and when i inquire about what’s going on, i maybe get an answer like “oh sorry we just had some problems restarting the MySQL server” or no answer at all. When last time the site was down for hours and i got no response, that was the last drop and i bought a hosting service at another shared host (iWeb). I know, i know, i should have bought VPS or something, but that’s more trouble than gain, as iPhantom and i experienced back last winter. I hope it’ll be all right now. The transition should go quite smooth too, i hope you won’t see any downtime.

You can’t. What i’ve been trying to do is to get Analytics working properly through all valerauko.net subdomains, all subdomains separated and an aggregate profile. Not easy.

Earlier i was doing this by making totally separate profiles for the blog and the rest and then including them in the right places, but Analytics just couldn’t handle folders and subdomains correctly.

Now i tried to make one profile with a bunch of sub-profiles, a couple of filters and subdomain limiting in the include code, but this doesn’t seem to work that well either. The most apparent sign of this is not that blog posts show up in a way they shouldn’t, but even my own pageloads on my home server where i was testing the stuff before uploading (which is, for your information, a totally separate host with a name that doesn’t even resemble valerauko.net, not to mention its folder structure is slightly different) showed up mysteriously, even though the cookies should’ve been limited to valerauko.net.

So i decided to just stay put for a few days until it gathers enough data to actually analyze and then i’ll see what the problem is.

According to my stats, some of the top ten are as follows.

Hungary: i really wonder who these people are. I’m not related to Hungary in any way, except that it’s the country i’m citizen of, i was born and raised there, studied there and way too many people i love are there. I hope it won’t rot apart before i get home (not as if i hoped i could help much…)

UK: i guess this is due to the activity of my sister there, and also a lot of enthusiastic readers, hopefully. I love Britain, if i get rich once i really want to get a big old house somewhere in Dartmoor. Because it’s teh feel.

US: again, relatives and enthusiasts there. I liked it when i was there, but i don’t feel like living there for longer. Maybe for studying and oft visits.

Japan: i’m here, i have friends here, who apparently follow my posts not only on Facebook but here on the blog too (if not, then now’s the chance), and also (based on their occasional comments) my senpai also 読んでくださってます (are so kind to read).

Romania: after all, they’re Hugary’s neighbours, and according to my experience, they are very nice people. At least, the three who are here with the scholarship. Screw politics. Though, to be honest, i’ve never been there yet.

Brazil: i can’t help thinking of Brazil as “down there”, but i hope you can forgive my northern hemisphere narrow-mindedness. Here in the neighbourhood of the sixth floor is the only brazilian of our scholarship, he really amazes me time to time. If many of you are like him i wish you all the greatest economic (and all possible other) development.

It’s been interesting to watch what brings the most visitors to the blog. Some stuff show up even though i’m around page fifteen in the search results, some don’t, although i’m first. According to Analytics, my top content:

  • the root: the opening page of the blog, always with the newest posts and stuff. This page i guess gets the most hits from referrals, not from search.
  • about hungarian language exams: apparently lots of people are interested in taking hungarian language exams of various levels, and my post compiled after roughly ten minutes of googling seems to rate better in search engines than official exam center websites
  • anime movies: the third, fourth and sixth places of the list are taken by posts about anime movies. In order: Naruto Shippuuden Bonds (Kizuna), the first Naruto Shippuuden movie and the first Rebuild of Evangelion movie (You are not alone). Glad you like those posts.
  • Chronflow: the missing fifth is my post about Chronial’s cool coverflow plugin for foobar2000 and how to solve a few annoying problems related to it (though i can’t do anything about its memory use).
  • the 2009 january archive: i seriously have no idea why this gets so many hits. I looked at the search stats, but no details on that. It’s some of the pics used there, as most of the hits originate from Google image search sites.
  • about language abusers: my rant about people who simply can’t type, are dumb like shit hell and don’t even realise. I really have an urge to laugh when people don’t understand the purpose of that post.
  • on japanese music: my little compilation of a few japanese bands i knew and liked back then. I still mostly only listen to those bands when it comes to japanese music, with a few newcomers (like Ellegarden) and changes in balance (such as High and Mighty Color rating much higher).
  • Glamour Pinball tips: my guide to the Nokia game Glamour Pinball. I can’t use that phone here in Japan, so i’m totally off the game now. (No games on jap phones.) Glad you find my tips useful.

Manapság nem sok dolog folyik. Téli szünet van, elvileg házikat kéne írnom meg kanjikat tanulni, de nincs hozzá túl sok hangulat. Inkább egy király gráfszerkesztővel tervezgetem és (mostmár) írom a blogmotort, amit talán ezúttal sikerül befejezni, ne adj’ Isten még publikálásra is alkalmas lesz. Elég sokat gondolkoztam néhány helyen, például hogy az admin felületet hogy érdemes összerakni meg (egy cseppet alsóbb szinten) hogy érdemes megoldani a dátum/idő kezelését és tárolását – nekem a sok időzóna-eltérés miatt ez elég zűrös, már eddig is három különböző időzónából (nem számolom az óra-átállítást) vannak bejegyzések (a szerver meg egy negyedikben van), és ez a szám csak nőni fog… A legnagyobb probléma, hogy a kommentek idejét hogy határozzam meg, hiszen nem tudom megbízhatóan és egyszerűen azonosítani, melyik időzónában van a látogató. Úgy néz ki, kénytelen leszek beállítani egy alap időzónát, amibe a kommentek érkeznek. Vagy használhatok valami mást, mint például az internet beat-et, csak azt meg senki nem tudná értelmezni. Ahogy tervezgetek, ennél nagyobb problémára sehol nem számítok. Amire meg rájöttem, hogy hiába tervezem meg előre, megírni nem lesz sokkal egyszerűbb.

Először is jelzem, hogy ma megvolt az utolsó vizsgám – erre a félévre, persze. Diszkrét matematika volt, ha esetleg valakit érdekel, és négyes lett, pedig rosszabbra számítottam – amekkora “szerencsém” volt, pont a gyakorlatvezetőm javította, akinek elég “egyedi” elképzelése van a helyes és hibás fogalmáról, úgyhogy abban a pár percben miután ez kiderült elég sok adrenalint elfecséreltem. Ezzel a hagyományos átlagom 4.67, a kredittel súlyozott 4.69, a kreditindexem pedig 4.07, úgyhogy nem dobnak ki a koliból (oda 4.5-ös átlag kell). Következő félévre meg fölvettem (már most) a Tolkien-témájú és a bölcsészkarról a “Blogolás, a XXI. század újságírása” tárgyat.

Másodszor, egy pár perce végeztem a kilencvenkettedik (92.) Naruto Shippuuden rész fordításával, szerintem holnap fog megjelenni időzítésestül a Hidden Leaf Team-nél. Töltsétek, mihelyt felkerül.

Amióta a Google Analytics is figyeli a valerauko.net minden oldalát (már azokat, amik az enyémek), volt néhány viccesebb keresőkifejezés… Például itt a blogon ők a legnépszerűbbek:

  • Naruto Shion hentai – hihetetlen, hogy a Naruto filmről írt bejegyzésemben az az egy “hentai” kifejezés az első oldalra vitt a gugliban
  • magyar nyelvvizsga – ezek szerint sikerült érdekeset írnom…
  • hentai movie about invading small purple things – na most hogy ez mégis honnan jött, az egy nagyon jó kérdés. Ennyire nem vagyok (talán) perverz. (De valahogy erre is a Naruto filmes bejegyzésem az első találat a gugliban… keresőoptimalizálás rulez…)
  • Kaukázus, Péterfy Bori – voltam nem egy koncertjükön, írtam is róluk, úgyhogy még ez érthető.
  • Mindenféle filozófiai témák – ez egyáltalán nem lep meg, miután egy évig minden pár bejegyzésből egy filozófiai esszé volt… (lásd deeper kategória)

További hírek. Fölvettek. Japánba. Még részleteket, hogy mikor meg hogy megyek meg hasonlók, nem tudok. De fölvettek. Úgyhogy megyek. Egyetemi alapképzés ösztöndíj, japánban. Írtam már róla nem egyszer, tessék rákeresni, az “ösztöndíj” kifejezésre se igen ad ki mást itt a blogon. Kíváncsi vagyok, milyen lesz.

Tegnap nem akartam a géphez ülni, ami többé-kevésbé sikerült is – ezt jelzi, hogy nem plörköltem egyet sem – bár tagadhatatlan, nem volt könnyű megállni, mivel tegnap járt le a valerauko.net domain, így csak reménykedni tudok, hogy hétfőig (amikor el tudok rohanni a bankba rakni pár ezer forintot a számlámra) nem rakják át “redemption period” státuszba, mert akkor nagyon nagy bajban vagyok (onnan már huszon-néhány ezer egység újraregisztrálni).

Nameg olvasni szerettem volna. Be kéne már lassan fejezni azt a Rilke kötetet, végül is már nyár óta nálam van, és nincs ötszáz oldal… Igaz, cserébe nem az a kifejezetten könnyű olvasmány (igen, jól érzed, magyarázom a bizonyítványt). Viszont még olvasni se tudtam teljes svunggal leülni, mert a tévében egész nap House maraton ment, és estére már csak a fénylő üveget bámultam – reklámszünetekben meg a könyvet.

És gondolkozok, gondolkozok, hogy mégis hogy lehetne úgy megcsinálni a blog eljövendő kinézetét – merthogy változni fog, az fix – hogy új legyen, naprakész legyen, és én legyen. Vagyis ne valami tucattermék, hanem igazi, egyedi dolog. Megszenvedek vele, de hogy jó lesz, az fix (ilyenkor jut eszembe taltos írása a perfekcionizmusról).

Layout

I’m into layouts nowadays, it seems. I’ll write the promised two posts on the layout and/or version changes of those big sites, but now i’m just announcing that the possibly final layout of the next blog version is ready, more or less. Rather less, since i’ve only done a graphic design of it, haven’t tried to implement it into html as of yet, but it won’t be hard, because this one’s simple, but–at least in my opinion—looks great. While working on it, i realised that if i’ll have a tag system instead of or beside the categories, then the tags should echo the actual content of the post, which in many cases would mean that a tag should be present in more than one language. That’d be quite troublesome, but i think i’ll manage to figure out some resolution (such as multi-lingual tags, same id, different language, a simple double unique key in the database). One question: should the next blog remain in english (i mean the website itself, not the content) or should i rather do it in hungarian (or—don’t choose this, because that’d be loads of work—should i make a multi-lingual interface)? Is there anyone out there reading me, who doesn’t know hungarian?

Birthday

If i’m right, the blog just had its third birthday sometime around now. I think (i hope) there’ll be loads more such posts in the future. I don’t plan to drop blogging, and i think that by the fourth birthday, the new version will be on and out, with all the new stuff i’ve been planning for so long. Thanks for all the 692 comments and the countless visits. See you in the future.
