Yesterday i decided to watch Koyaanisqatsi, since i found that it’s available on Google Video. I remember when i was a kid and i was browsing the vhs tapes at home, i was always fascinated by the title “Koyaanisqatsi”. It sounded so wild, and it looked so cool. As i learnt since then, koyaanisqatsi is the hopi word for “life out of balance” or a “life that needs to be changed”. It was an experience for sure. I don’t really know how to describe it, since i don’t yet understand it wholly. Surely i will watch it a couple more times, somewhat earlier—yesterday night i was a bit too worn off, so i almost fell asleep a couple of times. The music of the film is also great. Well, since it’s just the music and the pictures, this is kind of expected… But somehow that deep-toned “koyaanisqatsi” still echoes in my head, maybe making me want to change my life for the better…
