Last from school

Most probably this is the last post i write from school, because this is my very last computer studies lesson ever, and i must say i’m happy about that. They were very boring, much too often annoying and such.

At least i found a good thing this time: the photos of the last autumn’s england trip are shared on the school network so i’ll try putting them up on my webspace.

Sad i won’t go this time… i’d love to, but i don’t think my parents could afford that in every year – it’s not a cheap experience, though it worths it, we had a lot of fun there and learned a lot.

Right now i’m uploading the pictures, but the conenction here is not the fastest ever, so i may not be able to upload all. The clever people who made them did not convert them to smaller size, so almost all are around 1MB in size. Funny.

Lucky the lesson ended, the one-before-last day of school also, so i’ve to leave, will be back sometime today!

Quick report

Everyone who wants to be hosted at me: due to the massive stupidity of my bank (they set the transfer limit of my account to 0 (zero), even though i said to disable all limit…), the site will move by the best scenario tonight, which means tomorrow it’ll open for you, the worse is that it’ll be moved tomorrow, so you’ll get access tomorrow evening, and the worst is that you’ll get access on wednesday.

They said instant activation, so by the side of the host it’ll be all right, but i don’t know how long it’ll take for the registrar to redirect the domain to the new place.

Patience, please.

Just a Sunday

I made the last two posts on my phone late night in the darkness, and then posted them now and dated them back to the right time. I just told you this to understand why didn’t you see them before.

Today i woke up intentionally earlier than i would’ve done else, so i could finish up the new layout (v4) for the site to replace this blue splash page. I think it came out pretty well, though i won’t upload the final version until i move hosts – what will hopefully happen in a few days.

I went to church then and came back sometime around noon. The plan was to go cycling with a friend, but for some mysterious reason he didn’t show up at all, so after half an hour’s waiting i’ve left alone and done my usual tour around the town.

Since then i’m chatting with many people on IM nets (Google Talk, MSN, AIM etc), finalized the layout and fixed some bugs with the mail sending form.

I don’t think i will be writing much more posts today because i have to learn for the huge biology test for tomorrow. I write it to get the best grade, so i’ll have to do it almost perfect. That will be very hard, since the subject of the test is all the things we learned about in the first half of the term, so the neuroendocrine system (the nervous and the hormone system together) of both animals and humans. Not a bit hard.

Cards

Today i’ve read dozens of help sections, manuals, mailing listsand all other kinds of information sources just to find a way to add funds to my PayPall account, so i could finally transfer the sites. As expected, and as you can see, i was unsuccessful, so i’ve to find out how will i pay. I’ll try my best to do it tomorrow, so i can accept hosting requests.

Arrgh

I’ve heard that Opera is the best in CSS parsing and compatibility, so i thought i won’t have any big problems with it. In my dreams. Almost whole afternoon i’ve been sucking with a div that doesn’t want to grow with the container div inside it even against the CSS height:inherit; setting. Any ideas why? None of the elements (except the one that has to grow) is positioned at all, only margins and floats operate. It’s very annoying since it shows well in all other browsers (even IE), but not in Opera.

Feel like

Though that’s the name of one of the categories, this one won’t be there. I was reading JA’s page about herself and it struck me that i must make an opening post for the i am category. But i simply can’t make up any good things that you can’t get to know from the vSelf part of the site. Definitely the most useful part there is the status page of my SHOUTcast radio…

I’ve just updated the wishlist there, just to show the world my “needs” =).

Oh, and to tell you, i’m on the verge of getting ill. Again. I hope i can cure myself quickly, because with these weather conditions, with getting soaked by rain almost every day, being unhealthy is a dangerous joke. And lately i loaf around (thanks dictionary, i’ll use this phrase =)) much more than i used to, and with my luck i naturally always get caught by a rainfall. When i successfully get ill – like now – i always carry a 100 piece pack of paper hankies, put on good warm sweaters. Back to plans.

This friday i don’t think there’ll be any special event, just the usual friday afternoon meeting with friends. On saturday, as far as i know won’t be any notable events, since the party promised is most possibly cancelled. Sunday is for rest, nothing mentionable.

I want to finally finish Hocus Pocus, it’s sooo slow. Then tomorrow i’ll wolf at least 3 of the remaining 5 Vonnegut books, because at this rate i’ll have to bring them back to the library before finishing.

Long day

Nice. I left home at 7.50am, and could sit down writing this post only now. Cool. I got a nice 5 (best grade) for my physics project (expected nothing worse from 5 hours’ work), but had a test right after receiving that and two lessons later even in chemistry, none were too successful from my point of view…

Right now i’m converting my english project on global warming to upload it to vWrite. Check it out later.

*** EDIT ***

The article is up in vWrite. Enjoy.

vStats

I think i’ve finished the release-ready version of my vStats statistics class, though i haven’t written a proper readme for it, so one may need a bit of php knowledge to use it. You may download the so named 0.8 version from here. As you can see from the filename, it’s the database version of the script, which means that i’ll create a file-based script too, for those not having access to a MySQL database. It may have bugs, report them to me via e-mail or any IM program.

Vakirauta

Amazing good song of Korpiklaani, the best finnish folk metal band (alongside Ensiferum). Vakirauta is the second song from their new album, Tales along this road. I’ve listened only to this song this afternoon, coz i was correcting the lyrics and making an Evil Lyrics karaoke file. It took a while, and you’ll understand why, after hearing the song itself.

Here’s the lyrics:

Trillian vs Jabber

Some time ago a friend of mine asked me if i had Jabber. For some reason he couldn’t connect to any else IM service, and since he’s a member of my staff, communication is needed between us. So he sent me a GMail invitation, i got the Jabber plugin for Trillian and met there once or twice.

Yeah, but then the Jabber plugin began sabotageing everything related Trillian, by making it crash if connected to Jabber for more than a minute. Funny. I’ve checked the official Trillian forums, and it seems i’m not the only one with this problem. I hope they’ll correct it soon. It’s dead annoying.
