Old Gods of Appalachia

A while back I saw a post (skeet?) on my timeline that mentioned something called “Old Gods of Appalachia.” I haven’t had anything eldritch in my life recently (other than this cicada on my landlord’s tree that’s so loud I need earplugs to sleep) so I was instantly drawn to the mention of “old gods.” Today I at last listened to the first 4 episodes on the treadmill and I must say it’s real good stuff. Because of how compact (~30min) each episode is, it’s much easier to casually enjoy than for example trying to follow Critical Role (finding time to watch a 4 hour episode every week is tough). It’s not directly Lovecraftian in setting or the style of prose, but it has an unsettling feeling to it that I really appreciate. Definitely a good find!

After two months i write a podcast post once again. This time the subject is a work of a really interesting band called Soulfly. Don’t ask me what’s their official style, i don’t know. But this track i attach to this post is great and quiet, almost jazz-ish. Catchy, so to say. And very peaceful. Also, it gives you some resplenishing after you listened to the whole album, since on the disc you can find couple of much harder songs.

Let’s see the fish. Or whatever.

Most nem a nagy sikerű számítógépes játékra gondolok, hanem az In Flames egyik nagyszerű számára, ami szintén ezzel a címmel van megáldva. Mellesleg az egyik legjobb albumuk, a Reroute to remain utolsó száma. Pár napja nagyon bekattant nekem, állandóan azt kell hallgatnom. Igazság szerint nem tudom, miért, hiszen annyira nem dallamos, nem éneklős, és mégis, mégis…

Mindegy, ha meghallgattátok, ti is megértitek majd…

Wishmaster

Ismét csak jöjjön egy podcast, ezúttal egy Nighwish. Az adta erre az ihletést, hogy most olvasgattam a felírt blogok feedjeit, és az egyiken találtam egy YouTube videót. Az ominózus videó a Van Helsing című nagykedvenc filmemből volt összevágva úgy, hogy ráilljen a Nightwish legendás számára, a Wishmasterre. Csak hogy érthessétek, miért mondom, hogy legendás, tessék, hallgassátok. Ja, a videót itt találjátok.

Amióta Woodrockon hallottam ezt a számot élőben, egyszerűen nem tudok szabadulni tőle, folyton ezt dúdolgatom (legalábbis a refrént), ezt kell hallgatnom minden órában. Ja, hogy nem mondtam, melyik szám? Én azt üvöltöm a címe, és a Depresszió nevű kiváló magyar metál (pontos műfajt nem tudok) adja elő.

Nem is húznám már tovább az időt, hallgassátok legalább annyit, mint én, és ha tetszik, vegyétek meg eredetiben is!

Before…

I mean before i post the podcast, which will be a song from the 2004 album Spinefarm Hardcovers, i just want to tell you that finally today i bought the new webspace, the new domain, asked the admin (since valerauko.net is not completely under my control) to redirect the domain to the new space, it’s only the matter of time, when the whole new thing will be available and online and running and everything.

So, here comes the podcast. Last night i started with this song when i tried to fall asleep. It’s from the album named before, which contains mighty great songs of mighty great bands performed by the greatest bands of the Spinefarm label. So, the song is originally performed by Twisted Sister, and it’s title is We’re not gonna take it. The artist of this version is a band called Thee Ultra Bimboos (silly name…), and it’s pretty good. Let’s hear it.

Most látom csak, hogy már ma van – már nem mintha tíz perce nem ma lett volna, csak nem ugyanaz a ma, mint most.

Tegnap (hiszen mostmár tegnapnak számít) a pénzügyek mellett az oldal új designján dolgoztam – jó retrós lett, nekem nagyon tetszik. Viszont egyelőre inkább nem publikálom, csak majd az új tárhelyen fogom aktiválni, addig bírjátok ki a mostani kékséggel.

Még kaptok egy podcastet is, egy magyar metál banda, a Stonehenge egy művét…

Amazing good song of Korpiklaani, the best finnish folk metal band (alongside Ensiferum). Vakirauta is the second song from their new album, Tales along this road. I’ve listened only to this song this afternoon, coz i was correcting the lyrics and making an Evil Lyrics karaoke file. It took a while, and you’ll understand why, after hearing the song itself.
