Ore no Imouto (full title 俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない (ore no imouto ga konna ni kawaii wake ga nai), usually translated as “there’s no way my little sister is this cute”) was one of the best drawn anime in the 2010 autumn season. Had the competition been weaker, it would be the best without question, but Star Driver and a few others can be compared. And not only graphics, generally it was quite interesting and actually much more serious than one would expect from an anime centered around incest games and a similar situation “real life”. It was easily the best anime in the season that had some meaning to it (thus sorting out the likes of Panty and Stocking and Squid Girl). And it’s even funny.

The graphics are amazing and the story is much more complex (and much less wincest) than the starting situation of the anime would suggest. There will be a few OAV’s coming this summer, with different endings (much like Kirino’s beloved games), and i’m pretty sure that there will be at least one with 18+ content.

And there was also something i’ll remember in relation with this series for sure: the upside down trains. As it would be apparent to anyone able to read the signs here and there in the anime, and/or someone who has actually been around that area, the locations in the anime are real. And most of those places i have been (see the Comiket at Odaiba, Shibuya, Akihabara and the likes). In one post Project Haruhi complains about the upside down trains.

Back then i thought it was indeed strange, but then… When i was going home in december, i spent a night in Chiba with a good friend, and there they were, the upside down trains. It’s really there.
