Dead Moon Rising

Still not the thing i plan to write about for a while… Right now i want to write about the moon. I was walking home a few minutes ago, then i saw the moon rising from behind the mountains. Last time i saw the full moon, it was icy-white and had really cold light behind a thin layer of clouds. But now… It was Hellsing-ish. Really. Almost red, rising slowly, pouring its maddening dark light on earth through the slices on the black, thick clouds. It’s really nice. I wish i had my camera with me, i’d have at least tried catching that minute. I think if any time, then tonight would be the night when vampires stroll the streets haunting the late-night travellers.

Also, somewhere in Britain high level vampires battle each other. Oh, that’s Hellsing, ain’t it? Sorry =)

For me this look of the moon is very nice and interesting, but those who are scaredy-cats (thanks for this word of the dattebayo naruto fansubs) should rather put their pillows on their head and tremble sleeplessly.

(The title of this post comes from a Sentenced song‘s title.)

Shaman king

Started downloading the Shaman king anime series today. Already watched the first episode, and it’s really good even though i have it in really low quality, because it’s a TV-record – at least it’s dubbed hungarian.

The story itself hasn’t started much yet, but i think that’s not much of a surprise to say after the first episode…

Tomorrow i’ll watch the second and third episodes and try downloading the following ones… I couldn’t get them today because the file sharing site they are uploaded at (YoUpload) is down – at least it always returns with timeout error for me.

The main character will be definitely Yoh, the only guy with already developed shaman powers. Since i know some of the characters from paper-based information sources (a classmate’s sticker collection book), i know the others will be interesting characters too, even if they are now not.

The graphics are good, usual shonen-style 21st century anime graphics, just as Naruto and Bleach and co. – i see that in low quality too.

The other series that i want to start downloading soon is InuYasha, though i’ve already seen the first 60 or so episodes on telly. Wanna have it burned out on dvds… just as all. My hdd’s soon to fill up…

Not

I wouldn’t be a good jew at all… my main workday is saturday =).

Today too i’ll do whatever i can. Have to do too many things to list all… i have to write couple of articles for that many times mentioned mag and also have to code loads of things for Kiltant and my new blog, and i also luckily aquired another job not so long ago… Not to mention that i still have those countless little requests, like “hey, would you be so kind as to make my site a cool layout?” that i can’t ever deny…

Well, i think that instead of writing posts about nothing i should rather work on the most most important ones… See you later. Expect some posts today…

Sort

I think i should sort my instant messenger contact list. I didn’t write MSN because i have contacts from other networks too. That’s the good in Trillian, i can have all my online identities in one. Also, that meta contact thing is really useful too…

I have my contacts in two groups: Anytime and Maybe. So there are people who are always good to talk with, never annoying, always understanding and such. They are my friends. There are only 10 of them.

The other group is those who are sometimes sane or entertaining, fun to talk with, but sometimes annoying, disturbing and not understanding at all. Or maybe we simply don’t have any common things to talk about. There is 80 of them.

Compared to others, i have pretty few contacts, and must say, of the Maybe group i have hardly talked to half of them only once… That’s why i say i should sort those i never speak to or always annoy me out…

Welcome to Speed limit

Been doing something really unusual lately: playing. I’ve been playing the Prince of Persia – The Two Thrones, and i almost finished it. So to say, almost finished the Vizier, but he always manages to get me with some wall pieces…

The story isn’t a big thing i say, but it’s good for what it should be: gives some reason why to play further, why to slay those countless monsters opposing us and such. It has the usual neo-prince romance line too, this time with the old-new love Farah.

The additional, interesting colour is the appearance of the Dark Prince, that i wrote about earlier… Damn that cat-girl who caught the Prince with that chain in the beginning… it’s all her fault. Alright, the Dark one is sometimes quite useful when have to get out of stressed situations – he has a huge fighting potential, the only problem is if he doesn’t get sand… he quietly dies then. It’s also funny sometimes how the two (alter-)ego of the Prince argue inside, taunting and criticising each other.

There are no new sand powers though, and two of them are virtually unusable, at least i haven’t found out what’s the point in sacrificing two or four tanks of sand for nothing… The good old rewind and slow are our most helpful allies, as expected. There are to be many many combo attacks, but i have only used a few, about six… Two with two weapons, two with the dagger only (that is the permanent weapon) and two with the Dark Prince’s chain. The others are either not effective enough or too complicated or (the most probable) i’ve been simply too lazy to look them up.

As in the previous episodes, the Prince can get health boosts here too. They are sometimes easy to find, but sometimes dead hard. And it’s always dead hard to get that bonus – but it’s neccessary. For the last one, don’t even try it without having all the sand tanks full… it’s impossible elseway. I have missed one somewhere in the beginnings, so i’ve to fight the bosses with -1 health…

About the bosses… If you find out how to fight them it’s easy to finish them off, all the time with the newly implemented Speed Kill thing. So you’ve to strike when the dagger flashes. But you should learn that in the very beginnings so you don’t have to fight all the enemies, just silently (almost hitmanly) cut their necks.

There was a boss that made me go ROFL, literally. I’d to kill two simple sand soldiers, then i got into an arena. A huge golem broke out of the wall and attacked me. I slashed his legs as usual, and then climbed up. Then he threw me off. After about half an hour of trying i was a bit fed up with it so i tried going with speed kill. Leg-slashing, back-climbing, speed kill head-pierce. Then it started to run. Bang, hit the wall and fell on the Prince, RIP. Did that about dozens of times and no luck. Tried jumping off and everything. Alright, me angry again. Tried controlling the golem, like i control the cart in the race. AND IT WORKED!!! I simply rode its head and smashed thourgh gates. I thought i’ll fall off the chair of laughing =).

New thing is furthermore that you can get into horse-pulled carts and travel using that. Only 2-3 times in the game, quite hard, but not impossible. Fun, if you get the hang of it.

There were some bugs, like monsters (or the Prince) falling through walls into the abyss, but that was easily solved using Rewind. Graphics good as expected from a PoP game.

10/10 – definitely addictive

P.S. do you know that joke in the title?

Man’s driving in the middle of nothing at the speed of 150 mph. He then sees a sign: “SPEED LIMIT 100”. He obediently slows down. A few minutes later another: “SPEED LIMIT 70”. Alright, that’s still bearable, so he slows. After driving a while, another sign: “SPEED LIMIT 30”. Gosh, that’s slow, but no way he wants to get caught speeding, so he slows. A couple of minutes later: “SPEED LIMIT 10”. He thinks that maybe it’s a construction somewhere and slows. He drives for a while, then a town appears: “WELCOME TO SPEED LIMIT!”

That’s it =)

Dorian Gray

Right now i’m reading The picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. It’s really a good story so far, though i’m only at the beginnings.

It has loads of very interesting thoughts and ideas that make people think even if they don’t want to – the other choice is that they don’t understand a single word. I think it’s natural then to choose thinking.

The story hasn’t really begun yet – or at least, that turning point hasn’t come yet after which you can only read, and nothing else. It’d be quite troubling if it’s totally left out, but that’s very unprobable seeing how very good it is to read it.

I will write more about it when i finish. It won’t take very long hopefully – not because it’s not good to read – i already cleared that it is – but because i would hate to not know how it ends for long.

Also, i have about five books that i still have to read until tuesday… =)

At last

I arrived home, ate a pile of fruits and now… My headache is somewhat gone! Really strange. It’s been aching almost whole day for no particular reason (no hangover or unusually much sleeplessness or such), and in the morning and some time in the day my whole disposition (?) was not as good as it should’ve been.

So now my program is to listen to punk music (exactly my all-time punk favourite, The Toy Dolls) and meanwhile write articles to that magazine i already mentioned many times before, Radiátor. I have to do a band “biography” and a disc review, and some other articles like book and anime reviews… But those are much shorter ones. It’ll be fun to do, i love writing =).

I also plan to write a german post after all in linguo, not only japanese =)

Only a little bit

After writing the title I realised that there is a trendy punk band which has a song that’s title could be translated like that – even though i like that song, now i don’t mean that. (If you’re interested, that song is Kicsit by Alvin és a Mókusok.)

Now i meant that i’m tired – only a little. A bit ironically, since i’m deadbeat. I arrived home after 5 pm today too, as usual i was in the library. I copied out the adjectives of the japanese book, so i can practice at home. When i arrived, i printed some example pages of the national maths competition i’ll take part in tomorrow, called OKTV (abbreviation for the hungarian of “national high-schools contest”). It’s dead hard and it’s very unlikely that i’ll qualify for the second round. The strange is, that after checking last years’ tasks, the finals are easier for me than the first round…

I’ve been trying to do exercises to prepare for this competition, but i miserably failed. So now comes that i’ll hope for the best and God‘s help, so maybe by any chance i can qualify. Anyways, if i would not qualify, there wouldn’t by any problem since i’m in that competition not only in maths, but in philosophy, IT and english too. Of this last two (maybe three) i’m sure that i’ll qualify to next rounds.

Overwhelm

Do you think that doing more than four projects simultaneously, with each of them requiring a lot of attention, is that crazy? Well, if you answered yes, then you just titled me crazy. =) “No para, be cool.” Dunno where did i quote that, but i remember that from sometime back in my very very childhood – i risk even from the first year of gindergarten or even earlier…

But that’s a bit off. So, right now i’m doing five projects (counting only those that i do on PC):

1. I work on KiltAnt, the newborn kilt shop of my brother. I write the whole back-end and fix everything that needs to be fixed. Kilt is the scottish manskirt. See kiltant.com, whenever i finish it. Progress well.

2. I work on my new blog engine. It’ll have loads of optimalizations and fixes, new features and such. It’ll have mobile access too, ajax-based search and commenting… i don’t want to show it to the public until it’s totally finished though. Sorry guys.

3. I work on Digimon Backup, my digimon fansite. Lately… well, i’m kinda less interested in digimon. And also, it’s quite troublesome to use that system i wrote. So i think i’ll write yet another one, as quickly as i can, and hire some staff. See digimonbackup.net.

4. I work on an offline magazine i make with my friends. It’s called Radiátor – it think it’s the same in english too. It’s mainly music based, but has many of other kinds of culture too – books, movies, anime and many more.

I can’t think of any more right now… =)

Playful

This morning i played with the Prince of Persia series’ latest piece named The Two Thrones (T2T for short). It’s quite fun, and not hard either – though i continued my little brother’s game and he plays on easy level.

I experienced bugs only twice: once it froze when i tried to save the game (luckily it was in the very beginning, so it didn’t cause much problem), and once i successfully threw a guard inside the wall causing him to die. Believe me, it was quite funny as i catched the guard, made an acrobaric slice and then elegantly threw him in the wall.

The game itself is really good. I was a bit shocked when i first saw the real-time rendered graphics, because it didn’t quite look as good as i expected, but then i got used to it. The controls are easy to learn, and easy to use too, also the sometimes very long and very powerful combo moves the prince can use against enemies. He can do all he could in the previous episodes, and also a lot more. He gained a lot more combo moves (there was already a lot in Warrior Within), and he still can use two weapons simultaneously.

He also gained a new ability called speed kill. If you can sneak near an enemy unrecognised, and then, when the screen flashes, press the second weapon button, and then, when the weapon flashes, press it again, he can kill the enemy in only two hits, without getting hurt or realised. Just as in Splinter Cell or other sneaking-quietkilling games.

The secrets (where you can find health power-up) are quite easy to find, but just as hard to get to as in the previous episodes.

The other new thing is not really new… It’s the debut of the Dark Prince. He’s much like the Sand Wraith from Warrior Within. When the Vezir (who got revived somehow) frees the Sands of Time again, the Prince gets infected by it too, and also gets a chain around his left arm. Sometime later then the Prince transforms to the Dark Prince. He uses two weapons too: the Dagger and the chain on his arm. Quite powerful, so to say. He also always criticizes the Prince when he’s not in his dark form. They quarrel with each other (quietly – in a bit schizophrenic manner), which sounds quite funny.

I haven’t played much yet though – when i finish the game i’ll write about the story too!
