Spent another day…

Workin’ on Digimon Backup. It’s coming together well. I put it online because so many people asked for the new version. I’ll soon upload a new movie page and the dex and loads of dex pages.

But the past almost two hours i’ve only been browsing DA. I can spend evenings doing nothing just looking at other people’s galleries and the linked-in things. Somehow i ended up at a really cool Digimon fanfic site called Digimon Viral. I think i’ll link it in now. So this is it. I haven’t read much of the story as of now (only the first chapter) but that’s great.

Oh and it’s a feeling to look at a character’s profile there, and read that his theme song is the exact song i’m listening to… Not to mention it’s a great song. Green Day’s Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I risk it being one of the top three Green Day songs.

FireFox Day

It’s like Spread FireFox. Just named it something else.

If you make someone download FF before september 15th you’ll both get included in the thanks panel of FF2. Cool.

Serialize()

Do you know why does the PHP serialize() function suck with new lines (\n)? I can’t get it. When i add to the database, it does not count them as characters, but when fetch it and try to unserialize() them, it reports error because of the wrong character count.

So i always have to edit the codes manually so that i rise the character counts in the serialized strings by the number of new lines. It’s not so much trouble, for shorter serializations i do it manually, for longer ones i use strlen(), which strangely counts linebreak characters as a character. Strange, isn’t it?

Speed up

Digimon Backup will be online today. I mean the new version. It does not have too much content as of now, but in my plans i will upload 4 pages (2 hungarian, 2 english) every day from now on until i finish. Oh and also the remaining incomplete systems should be completed too.

When i say it doesn’t have too much content it means it only has about 10 pages up – out of at least 150… Well, it was decided by my visitors: i put up a poll friday to ask their opinion about it, and as of now (when there’s still about 15 minutes remaining until the close of the poll) the first option (upload now with less content) wins sky-high. And i work for my visitors, so… enjoy what you’ll get.

New category

I created a new category for the blog, where i’ll post my really favourites from DeviantArt. I mean, they won’t be my works but others that i love. So you’ll get more images. No stealing them though.

The very first is to be:

Title: Karma, after rain

Verse

Sometimes i come to like songs because of only one verse, the chorus, or just a nice rythm in the start. Right now i’m addicted to the In Flames song titled Free Fall… Man, such a chorus!

I never seem to understand.
The time, the place, and who I am.
Define a way to stay alive,
It’s like I’m living a lie.

It’s amazing. Really. I’m totally addicted…

The other like that is Nirvana’s Lake of Fire… I only heard the unplugged version (so the one without distortion), but i couldn’t stop listening to it for a whole afternoon. That song is just like the Free Fall… hear the chorus, you get stuck with it.

Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don’t go to heaven where the angels fly
They go to the lake of fire and fry
Won’t see them again till the fourth of july

I sang this whole yesterday… it must’ve been terrible for the people around me… =)

Shopping

I have a not-so-big amount of money to spend. And i would like to spend naturally about twice as much. For what?

One: the new Iron Maiden album, A Matter of Life and Death debuts on the 5th of September, and i want to buy it in original. Since i like Maiden really much (favourite band o’ mine), i’d like to buy the limited box edition with dvd and such… That’s $14.99.

Two: the new Blind Guardian album, Twist in the Myth debuts on the 5th of September too, and i want to buy it also in original. I don’t know of any special edition, so i’d stick with the normal one, which costs $13.99.

Also, i asked my sis to buy a book for me in england, but i have no idea how much that’ll cost… suggest something under ?5.

So the sum is around $40. That’s too much for me… almost two month’s worth of pocket money…

Oh, and also the new Tarot album will come out sometime in late october, and this domain will also expire around that time… I fear i’ll miss some great gigs due to financial problems again…

Read

Right now i’m reading John Milton’s Paradise Lost (in hungarian this time, but i’ve asked my sister to buy me the english version – right now she’s in england). I risk saying it’s the third best book i’ve ever read (the first two being Tolkien’s Silmarillion and Richard Bach’s Illusions). Just as a side note i tell you that the previous third one was the sixth Harry Potter book.

So it’s really good. Though it’s hard to read because it’s using old phrases and sentence structures that are hard to understand, it’s still very interesting and fascinating.

For all you didn’t know before, i’ll tell the story up to the point i’m at right now. Satan and his companions were exiled from Heaven and founded Hell and built it’s capitol, Pandemonium. They held a counsel about what should they do:

  • try battling Heaven again with a head-on attack
  • the same as the previous, except with a sneak attack
  • wait and get stronger

In the end, none of these was chosen, but rather Satan left for the recently created Earth to see “the creature that enjoys His blessings just as we did” and corrupt him. I’ve read until here as of now, but i want to finish a few more chapters today, it’s so good.

Umm…

I know you may ask “why on earth can you only write about how you’re working on those freakin’ webbies?!”, because lately i don’t write about much else in english – i promise i’ll write about something else too sometimes.

But that’s not now… I’m so glad it seems i sped up today, i made a new page class and also uploaded about 4-6 pages for the new layout of DB. The progress is getting faster and faster by time. This way i have more time for other things too, like learning Pascal =), i’m still quite a beginner, i’m stuck on the level of a basic conversation-program…

Work

I’ve been working on my sites yesterday almost whole day. I did plenty of DB pages, fixed some typos and i think they even look better in this new layout. I really like those i’ve already finished. Now i’ll start doing it again, i want to upload at least 6-8 renewed pages today. Also, i’ll have to write the new content pages for those things that’s not in the old version and also for Savers. I could do pages really quickly, but a bug in serialize() make it annoying. Oh yeah, it might now have been for the [/h(int)] thingy, i realised that even before entering the data into the database, serialize counts the length of long strings wrong. This suck because i have to copy the text out for strlen() and edit the serialized string – this is why it takes much longer than it should.
