Not as if i finished anything (save the comments system, which is working fine – for me), on the contrary, i have done hardly anything except planning (yeah, still only planning) the system DB should work, and wrote some of the XSLT sheets to format the data (you’ll get a lot of that).

Finish is referring to finishing this day. Yeah, i’m already (once again) fed up with sitting here hours long not completing a single function. The hard is that i’ve to find a good point to start from, or this way i’ll have to develop all parts simultaneously.

Also, i want to note a little fact i’ve stumbled upon when browsing MuggleNet: the fifth Harry Potter book, Order of the Phoenix was released exactly three years and a day ago. How nostalgic. Surprising time runs so fast, since i can clearly remember reading my sister’s english version of the book in my room daylong months before the hungarian one was even released. It was so fun =). Just as back last summer, when i was doing the same with the sixth book (i got my own copy when i was on holiday).

Most egy időre besokalltam az XSLT írásától a DB oldalakhoz, úgyhogy írok egy blogpostot és visszavonulok Svejkhez.

A design már nagyrészt kiforrott, a fő hangulati elem az a vírus-fertőzött Garurumon, aki/ami a Savers hatodik részében okozott gondot a DATS-nak. A TDP-s adatlapján olvashattok róla többet is. Itt van néhány screenshot, amiket én készítettem, hogy a kinézethez nyersanyagot kapjak.

I’ve started working on the new comments system, the result of that is comments are not working at all. At least, you can’t add any now. I plan to solve this by tomorrow.

I also planned most of the new Digimon Backup system today. It’ll be pretty complex to make, but this way written down, it seems it will take much less time than the AN project, even though i’ll write a forum engine too this time. Yeah, you read well, i will create my own forum engine for Digimon Backup. It’ll be very fast (according to the plans).

I was just thinking how should DB work… I ended at the following scheme:

  • add data to MySQL database in XML format, after correcting, validating and everything
  • get data using PHP. Generate dynamic XSLT file according to the type of the page (character bio, movie or episode review, etc) with PHP, and use that to convert the XML data from the database to XHTML. This is definitely the hardest part.
  • display the final thing.

The news system will be based on my previous works, very basic, just the most neccessary things included. I’ll write a topsite code, a link exchange and a network system, a gallery, a forum, so all the coding and scripts of the site will be self-made, no outsider codes will be used.

The layout is naturally all valid CSS2+XHTML1.1, just as all my recent works. I think it already looks nice, but i’ll surely refine it in the future, before releasing it finally (what should happen very soon, because the old host is making my files there disappear). I’ll write some new pages, and rewrite most of the old ones, what will be a nice big work in addition to the coding.

I don’t plan to work anymore today, rather plan everything on paper, so it won’t take so much time tomorrow. I did that with the AN Community Site (a project that i’ll revive now the summer break is in), but then it didn’t work well… =) now, with the experiences from back then, i hope it’ll be more successful timesaver.

I love working on sites like these… i must be crazy =)

I’ve heard that Opera is the best in CSS parsing and compatibility, so i thought i won’t have any big problems with it. In my dreams. Almost whole afternoon i’ve been sucking with a div that doesn’t want to grow with the container div inside it even against the CSS height:inherit; setting. Any ideas why? None of the elements (except the one that has to grow) is positioned at all, only margins and floats operate. It’s very annoying since it shows well in all other browsers (even IE), but not in Opera.

I think i’ve finished the release-ready version of my vStats statistics class, though i haven’t written a proper readme for it, so one may need a bit of php knowledge to use it. You may download the so named 0.8 version from here. As you can see from the filename, it’s the database version of the script, which means that i’ll create a file-based script too, for those not having access to a MySQL database. It may have bugs, report them to me via e-mail or any IM program.

It wasn’t bad though. I did the background music for vDesign, it’s from the Four Seasons of Vivaldi, Winter. I think it matches the layout. I had some problems with embedding flash content under Opera, but somehow it got solved by itself.

I haven’t done much else today, coz we were celebrating the birthday of my niece. She’s 8. I got home at somewhere around 4pm, thus had only two hours to work or so.

And i also got a new website to do, for my bro (who i guess is reading these lines too). It won’t be easy, i’ll start learning the needed aspects of Flash as soon as i find a good tutorial. And i’ll surely find one.

Oh, and here come a podcast (background music of vDesign).

I’ve been working today on the vStream design, but i now think that it looks very-very lame. You can see it here. I’ll create one better later today just i’ve to go in town now and then i’ve to write a 2-page essay for tomorrow. Jeez.

I’ve also been browsing some sites, and found some very funny, like this. It nearly made me fall out of the chair of laughing. How can someone write such a thing? Even if it’s not real, but how to invent it? Fantastic… =)

Also i’ve read about the Warcraft movie being made… it’ll be cool i hope.

Egyszerűen nem tudtam kitalálni ennek a postnak semmi értelmes címet úgyhogy maradt ez.

A mai nap elég érdekesen telt. Kb délelőtt 10ig tudtam melózni (fél9től), mivel aztán se szó se beszéd kikapcsolt a net (mellesleg a TV is, de az nem zavart annyira), ennyit rólatok, kedves UPC. Persze közben ment a Winamp maxon, dolgoztam offline meg megoldottam a következő versenyfordulót, de így oda volt a hatékony akció.

Délután négyig mindenfélével elfoglaltam magam, többek között (mint már írtam) offline írtam az oldalakat a vWrite-ba, ebédeltem, könyvtárba mentem (biztos örültek (nem épp) csendes köhögésemnek), olvastam a Kalevalát (hogy ez milyen egy nehéz meló! alig lehet felfogni az értelmét, olyan nyakatekerten van körülírva minden), filóztam, álmodoztam meg szidtam a telómat (ugyanis – csak hogy teljessé tegye a kommunikáció csődjét – nem volt hajlandó semmiféle hangot továbbítani az én oldalamról, azaz én hallottam, de engem nem hallottak), meg néhány sokkal mindennaposabb dolog. Megjegyzendő, hogy e bekezdésnek közel fele zárójelek közé íródott =).

Négy körül visszaállt a rend, gyorsan nekiálltam a vWrite-ot befejezni, így a keresésen és az admin szekción kívül minden működik már. Nemsokára kész lesz. Aztán alkotok még hozzá néhány színesebb layoutot is, mert sokaknak ez túl szürke (nekem tetszik).

A mai nap három legnagyobb slágerzenéje a Rage – Soul Survivor, a Blue Öyster Cult – Burnin’ For You, a Metallica – The Unforgiven és a tegnap óta játszott Bon Jovi – It’s My Life. Hogy ez már négy? Hoppá…

A rádióm persze ment volna ha lett volna net, amióta van, azóta megy is =).

Valszeg a vWrite után a következő a vStream lesz, egy PHP+Flash podcast progi, nem hiszem hogy bonyolult lenne, hisz a Rock the World-ben már van zenegépem (ahhoz a segítséget anno az SWF.hu segítőkész embereinek köszönhettem), nem kell rajta sokat átdolgozni majd (remélem). De hogy színvonalasra megcsinálom, az ezer százalék.

Még mindig zene, hogy véletlenül meghallottam a Nighwish Phantom of the Opera számát, és kapásból felismertem a musical/opera/whatever zenéjét (idén láttuk a pesti Madách színházban osztálykeretek között), nagyon jó feldolgozást csináltak Tarjáék.

Na, mára ennyi, talán még később jön egy angol post, de lehet hogy nem…

Today i plan to start hard working once again – wonder if this time i could really do it. I ought to do the last parts of the tANCS engine, i hope i can finish it quickly. Also i want to do the vWrite engine too, it should be an easy one since i did many like that before. Then i’ll overwhelm you with anything that comes through my mind and my keyboard.
